When to Schedule

Fashion and Creative Portraits

At least 2-4 weeks in advance, check out the calendar for available dates and times!

Families, Proms and Branding

Anywhere from 2 to 6 months before is ideal. Give yourself more time to create the best shoot to meet your vision.

Time to Schedule

I prefer lots of light but not too harsh. Early mornings before noon and closer to sunset are perfect. If indoors, somewhere with lots of windows so lights can come in. At the moment, I don't do flash photography as my most reliable one was lost and is being replaced. Also, do not book beach shoots after 3 p.m. The bugs are unforgiving and I am allergic :(

Plan for Weather

Mother nature cares less about your shoot than you do. It's hurricane season so keep checking that weather report for lots of rain and strong wind. It's also still really warm out and you don't want to get too sweaty or dehydrated.

What to Expect

posing for photos

I prefer candid shots but I will also direct you so it will be a mix of the two. Don't worry, I won't have you looking crazy. Don't be surprised if it requires a bit of work for the posed shots. My models are known to break a sweat. Stay hydrated.

how many images?

This is dependent on each session as no two sessions are alike. I provide an estimate of the minimum number of images you will receive. The range is usually from 10 to 25 images. The more images, the greater the cost.

Prioritize your day

Make your session the highlight of your day! Don't run a bunch of errands and pack your day full. Take it easy that day and focus on just preparing for the shoot which in itself can already be hectic. Don't add more to your plate. Also, during the shoot, try to keep your pockets empty. If you need to stash something somewhere, you can put it in my camera bag.

Working with Children

I know you're going to be tempted to try to get them in order, but they're children. The goal is to keep them happy because once they meltdown, that's it, and worse when there's a stranger waving a camera in their face. Snacks help, but mostly, stop them for a pose here and there but let them do their thing. That's why I say, with family portraits, schedule it like it's a day out rather than a "photo shoot."

how to make it perfect

C-o-m-m-u-n-i-c-a-t-e. Talk to me. I'll do my best to create images you will love. You hired me for a reason and I want to make this a memorable moment. But to do that, I also need you to level with me. Concerns? Questions? Suggestions? Give them to me. I got you.
